I am a freelance writer and an author in the making.
I graduated as an architect and worked for few years in an architectural firm as an interior designer. However I left the job and traveled across India with my husband who was serving in Indian Air Force till a year ago before taking a voluntary retirement. As of now I keep hopping between Delhi and Pune.
I have professional proficiency in English and Hindi and a diploma course in Creative Writing from Symbiosis, Pune. I have written for various national publications and making foray in international publication as well. My travel and culture stories have appeared in:
- Newspapers like The Hindu, Indian Express, Mint Lounge, Tribune, Sakal Times, Deccan Herald, Deccan Chronicle, Financial Express
- Magazines like Lonely Planet, Architectural Digest, Discover India, Provoke, India Outbound, Airports India, Discover India’s North East, Dialogue, In-flight magazines like Travel 360, True Jetter
- Websites like Round Glass Sustain, Times Internet, Women’s Web, Goya Journal, Asiaville News, First Post, The Quint, Daily O, Huffington Post India and Open Road Review.
My story on ‘Behrupiyas’ in The Quint was awarded a special mention jury award by Red Ink Awards of Mumbai Press.
I love to write about travel, architecture, heritage, culture, food, environment, wildlife, women’s issues, books and personal narratives. I am trying to explore science and history realted stories as well.
I dabble also in photography, art, illustration, poetry, fiction(just about), translation from Hindi to English and vice versa. When I am not writing or painting I indulge in baking and crafting candles and chocolates.
It has been three successful years of freelancing. I also maintain a travel blog where I share my experiences from national and international trips.
